In the four weeks ending September 13, the median monthly mortgage payment hit about $2,600\u2014a 3% increase from last year\u2014showing just how much financing influences what buyers can afford.<\/p>\n<p>The resale market is still tight, as many homeowners are holding onto their low-rate mortgages, which keeps inventory limited. Sellers, meanwhile, often still hope for pandemic-era prices.
