Tarzana

Tarzana is on the site of a former ranch owned by author Edgar Rice Burroughs and is named for his storybook jungle hero, Tarzan. It is bounded on the south by Topanga State Park, on the east by Encino, on the north by Reseda and on the west by Woodland Hills. Tarzana’s popularity is based in part on offering buyers more “bang for their buck” — more house, more land, and still a relatively easy commute! From townhome complexes and single family starter homes north of Ventura Boulevard to the multi-million dollar gated developments of Mulholland Park, Braemar Estates, Monte Verde Estates and Silver Hawk south of the Boulevard, — from the equestrian properties of Melody Acres north of the Blvd. to the hillside Braemar split-levels and gated ranch-style estates south of the Blvd., — Tarzana can be home to first-time buyers, young families, empty-nesters and “Industry” celebrities alike.

Within Tarzana’s borders or easily accessible are many houses of worship, one of the Valley’s best public elementary schools (Wilbur Ave. Charter), middle schools (Portola), and magnet schools (the 4-12 Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies), easy shopping, great restaurants, Braemar and El Caballero Country Clubs offering tennis and golf memberships, recreation centers and hiking and biking trails.
