Sherman Oaks is a centrally located suburb of Los Angeles. It was one of the first Valley communities to experience intensive real estate development and it has been expanding its boundaries since 1991 – first from Magnolia Blvd. north to Burbank Blvd. and, more recently, from Burbank Blvd. north to Califa St. just south of Oxnard Blvd. It is bordered on the north by Van Nuys, on the west by Encino, on the east by Studio City and Valley Glen and on the south by the Santa Monica Mountains.
Sherman Oaks’ neighborhoods include Chandler Estates, Fashion Square, Library Square and Magnolia Woods north of Ventura Blvd. and Longridge Estates and Royal Woods south of the Blvd. – all of which are above-average income neighborhoods. In fact, Longridge Estates has some of the highest sale prices in the Central and East Valley, well over $5 million. Sherman Oaks has more multi-residential complexes than either Encino or Tarzana and is the home of two of the Valley’s premiere shopping malls – the Galleria and Westfield Fashion Square.
Within its boundaries or easily accessible are many houses of worship, private schools (like Buckley and Notre Dame), highly-rated public schools (like Dixie Canyon Elementary and the Kester Magnet School), great shopping and popular restaurants along Ventura Blvd., parks and recreation centers.
